DK’s primary genre is hip-hop, but has a deep appreciation for old-school music, which she often listens to when at home. She admits to not keeping up with the latest music trends and popular artists on social media.

In the music industry, DK values being forthright and confident about her unique perspective and values. She acknowledges that her individuality and standards may be misinterpreted as judgmental but emphasizes that she cares about those around her and wants to uplift them.

Her journey in music took a serious turn around two to three years ago, although she has been involved in music since her childhood. She started rapping around friends, but it was her best friend who pushed her to enter a recording studio and write her own songs.

DK’s emotions about her music career fluctuate, but she is confident in her growth as an artist. She handles all aspects of her career independently. She envisions a future where she reaches the level she aspires to be.

In the realm of rap, DK recognizes the obstacles she faces because of her gender, but she aims to break into the mainstream and share her music with a broader audience. She believes that her music is relatable to people beyond her gender.

DK recently released three singles, including collaborations and her own work. She is particularly excited about her R&B-influenced song called “Big Deal,” a collaboration with Nate Chick. She has also released a track called “Read Your Mind” and another titled “Sexy Red.”

There have been moments in her career when she considered giving up, especially when her mother fell ill. Her mom had been her biggest supporter, and it was emotionally challenging for DK to see her unwell. However, her mom’s resilience inspired her to continue her journey in music.

DK’s advice to those facing traumatic obstacles is to persevere and not dwell on the past. She emphasizes the importance of staying true to one’s passion, using music as a medium to express and overcome life’s challenges.
