Meet M. Marisa, originally from South Georgia, who has been residing in Atlanta for approximately a year and three months. She began her journey into music, including recording and writing, back in 2019.
Despite her lifelong love for singing, her venture into writing and recording music began just a couple of years ago. In fact, she recently completed her first EP during the summer, set to release on December 8th under the title “The Other Side.” The EP’s inspiration stems from her music, offering a mix of a bold, sensual, and spontaneous vibe.
M. Marisa is eager to present this project as it represents a distinct facet of her personality and artistry. One of the standout songs from the EP is “All Night,” known for its spontaneous and alluring atmosphere. With high aspirations for the upcoming year, she aims to conclude this year on a triumphant note.
In 2019, M. Marisa’s musical journey kicked off, sparked by her lifelong passion for singing, particularly her practice of posting cover songs on social media. Many of her family members were unaware of her singing abilities until they came across her posts. Encouraged by the positive responses from listeners, she decided to transition from covers to her original music. Writing songs in her notes became a common practice, and she’s amassed a collection of around 20 original songs.
In the music industry, she often receives feedback suggesting her music carries a 90s-style vibe, reminiscent of iconic artists like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Tony Braxton, Monica, and others. This influence is a testament to her love for 90s and early 2000s music, and she aspires to keep that era’s essence alive in her work.
When asked for a memorable quote, she emphasized the importance of keeping God first, as it has enabled her to achieve the seemingly impossible. While the music industry may exert pressure to conform to certain norms, she remains committed to her authentic self and values staying true to her identity.
Looking ahead, M. Marisa has an EP in the pipeline, titled “The Other Side,” featuring four tracks. The first track, “All Night,” sets a passionate and spontaneous tone for lovers, particularly released on Valentine’s Day. “Your World,” the second track, showcases a theme of reciprocating love and providing the world to a deserving partner. “Dream’s Reality,” the third track, explores the fulfillment of a fantasy, while “On the Low,” the fourth track, delves into secretive encounters, keeping the excitement alive.
